TeamTalk Managing Director, David Ware today congratulated Mark Ratcliffe and Telecom on achieving prioritised bidder status in the Government's Ultrafast Broadband Initiative.
TeamTalk subsidiary CityLink remains a shortlisted bidder, behind Telecom, for the Wellington region.
"This move potentially opens up the way for an exciting new future for telecommunications in New Zealand. Telecom have advised a willingness to work with local partners and we look forward to opening up a dialogue with Chorus in due course" said Ware.
"For 15 years now CityLink has been seen as one of the world's most innovative telecommunications companies and our expertise is much sought-after. Regardless of the final outcome of the UFB process, business customers in Auckland and Wellington will continue to have the choice of leading edge products at competitive prices from CityLink.
"We will continue to grow our networks and build our business. Our recently announced Ultra 1G service, which provides customers on CityLink's networks with a 1,000 Megabit service at an ultra low price, is a great example" said Ware.
"CityLink has identified a number of opportunities that the new telecommunications landscape presents and we'll be progressing them next year."
