Unplanned Outage - Incident Report

17 June 2003

On Friday 17 June an unknown vehicle destroyed a CityLink Fibre joint on the corner of Featherston Street and Waring Taylor Street.

Short summary of reported incident

An unknown vehicle pulled down and broke CityLink Fibre cable on corner of Featherston Street and Waring Taylor Street, bringing down a major Access Joint. Cable was damaged entering the Access Joint requiring 3 new joints to be restored.

Resolution steps

CityLink and outside contractors were commissioned to overlay 48 Fibre cable and re-spliced 96 fibres at three locations to restore network. All restoration work was carried out successfully, with most connections restored by midnight Friday.
